You’ve picked out your template, purchased it, and now a long list of to-do’s is staring you in the face. This is not the time to quit or reach for the brown paper bag. I am going to walk you through my top 5 tips to launch your website faster and with ease. Get comfortable, grab your drink of choice, and let’s break this down together!
Perfection is overrated and unnecessary. There, I said it. If we waited until things were absolute perfection to take action, we’d be waiting forever. Instead of driving yourself crazy and running in circles to finesse every little detail, try prioritizing certain pages first. When you think of the staples or the “bread and butter” pages of a website, what comes to mind? If you said homepage, services, and contact… you’re right on the money.
These main pages are going to house all the necessary information for potential clients to kickoff, and to start, that’s all we need. Live is better than perfect, don’t cringe too hard when I say that. The truth is your website will constantly be a work in progress as your business evolves. Do what you can to get the ball rolling, make it live, and make necessary edits as you go!
2. Don’t jump right into customizing it immediately
Showit is by no means rocket science, but it does have a learning curve. Lucky for you, we’ve created in depth introduction and training videos on how to navigate within the builder. We’ve also thoughtfully created an entire workstation for you complete with links to Showit’s tutorials, as well as custom videos from us here at White Point Creative. Having some background knowledge on the platform you’re utilizing will give you greater confidence when it comes to customization.
3. Gather your photos and copy first
We hear about the following scenario way too often: an excited customer purchases their template, then rushes to start switching out photos and headlines. Before they know it, they are neck deep in confusion. When it comes to building out your site, it’s better to go about the construction process systematically rather than haphazardly. To keep yourself on track, try creating a solid collection of imagery and writing your copy first. Really put thought into the content you’ll be including and what vibe you want it to give. Do you want a relaxed, fun, and friendly feel? What about a poised, professional feel? Nail down your goal when it comes to overall presentation first, organize this content in a way that feels best to you, then refer back to it as you’re designing. Trust me, it’ll be a breeze.
4. Utilize our free resources inside of the workstation
I am sure you’ve caught on by now, but we are all about organization around here. It’s kind of our thing. Our goal is to give you all the tools, checklists, bundles, and tutorials to make this process seamless.
To top it off, when you purchase a template with us you’ll also be encouraged periodically through email to continue the building process and reach certain goals!
5. Set a schedule and stick to it
To ensure that you’re able to publish your new website as soon as possible, we highly recommend creating a schedule to keep yourself consistent. Grab a calendar and fill it in accordingly with set days and times in which you’ll be dedicating to designing your website. We all know how life can be, don’t sit by and watch your launch slowly slip away!
