Are you launching a new service, podcast, course, or offer soon? Do you have your launch plan mapped out to have the best results? Before you start to panic about that second question, let me first say congratulations! This is a really exciting (and sometimes stressful) endeavor. My hope is to provide clarity and support with the exact marketing assets proven to beef up your launch plan and save you hours of time!
Whether you’re launching a new website, podcast, social campaign, course, or freebie you want to create a buzz with your audience and have them just as excited as you are about your launch day.
Now I’ve been right there where you are. You just poured months and months of time and energy to produce this new product or course or website and it is finally finished and the work is finally over. You kick your feet up on the couch and exhale for the first time in a long time. Then the anxiety of launching it hits you. “Will it perform well during launch week?” “What if no one buys it?” “How do I make sure people know about it?” Unfortunately, you can’t just build it, click post, and walk away. It would be best if you had a launch roadmap to optimize the success of your launch. Lucky for you I have given you a Launch Roadmap below and if you read further you will find some freebies and resources to kick those launch anxieties to the curb!
Before I can tell you exactly what you do and don’t need to write, design, and post for your launch, it’s important for us to consider the bigger picture. What I have all of my clients do, as well as my own team before a launch is create a launch roadmap. This is key! Your launch roadmap should include a few different things:
Now I know this is quite a list, but don’t panic! I’ve created a FREE Google Doc with all of the above and more! Normally, keep this close to the vest and only hand it out to clients only but today is your lucky day! You can grab it below 100% free!
Let’s think long-term here. What is your end goal for the product or service you are about to launch? Is it something you’d like to continue performing well after the launch day? Consequently, I’ve listed a few objectives to keep in mind when planning what assets to create or invest in.
Now I’m sure you want more than short-term success with your launch. You want a successful rollout PLUS long-term sales. For that to happen we need to think about the story you are selling, not just the product or service. I find that when we shift our mindset from “must sell product” to translating the transformation, we are more likely to think outside the box in terms of marketing and assets.
I want you to really think about a few things:
Most of the marketing is about going out and meeting your target audience where they are. What do they like to do? Where do they like to hang out? What TV shows do they like to watch? Think of it this way, if you wanted to hang out with wild penguins in person, would you drive to Oklahoma? I hope not!
Using our freebie, take note of where your audience likes to digitally reside. Think about specific Facebook groups, blogs, and other accounts on Instagram.
Now list ways you can guest appear, post, or advertise in those arenas. For example, Let’s say you are launching a new nutrition service and you find that many of your Instagram followers also love a particular strength training program by x trainer. In a perfect world, you would have already noticed that your audience loves this trainer and you would have started a friendly relationship with them. The reason is, that during your launch planning phase, you can approach them and pitch the idea of a collaboration. By tapping into this trainer’s following, you are also marketing yourself to a fresh pool of your own target market. Bonus! This trainer is also vouching for you which makes you more trustworthy.
Once you know the direction you’d like your launch marketing to go, you’ll have an idea of what assets (social media graphics, webinar slides, workbooks, etc.) Using our nutrition expert example launching a new service offering let’s say the list was:
Viola! You have just curated a highly strategic list of assets that are 100% custom to your launch, and specific to your marketing plan.
